Prague – a picturesque and passionate city that just doesn’t abandon the feeling of romance and mystique. It is called the ‘City of a Hundred Spires’ but more than that I found it to be the ‘City of a Hundred Sighs’sighs of admiration and appreciation simply emanate from your heart and involuntarily escape from your lips!

The beauty is all around you - in the cobblestoned streets, in the sorbet colors of the buildings, in the gothic spires piercing the skies and in the atmosphere surrounding you.

Whether you hit the serene elegant streets of Mala Strana or the vibrant heaving lanes of the Stare Mesto, there is a magical buzz around you. It does not remind you of the frenetic throb of a cosmopolitan city but it still grabs your attention and does not let go.

Almost from anywhere in Prague you are blessed with a lovely view or the beauty of an architecture style. It is all there right in front of you to embrace and enjoy.  A great pastime is to relax in the effervescence of the Old town or by the river, sipping a coffee or the famous local beer and looking up at the magnificent   splendor of the Prague Castle. And you could also be outside the Prague castle looking out on to the Vltava River and its many bridges and admiring the red-roofed vistas ahead.

The Prague castle is the largest castle complex in the world housing churches, courtyards, halls, gardens and royal residences.

The kaleidoscopic patterns of the stained glass windows in St. Vitus Cathedral in the Castle are breathtaking to watch especially as the daylight flits across the high windows.

The Vladislav Hall in the Old Royal Palace has enormous arched rib-vaulted ceilings in a Gothic style. This large secular hall is used as the perfect backdrop for state events and ceremonies.

The architecture is spectacular. Every street boasts of one or many creative artistic building or façade that is fascinating. It doesn’t matter which approach appeals to you- whether it is Gothic, Baroque, Art Nouveau or Romanesque. All the styles weave their special magic and somehow it all works together in creating the magic that is Prague.

An iconic landmark is the Charles Bridge always teeming with people, locals and visitors alike. You walk on this popular bridge so many times getting from one festive side of the town to another, that the statues on the bridge end up becoming familiar sights. They seem to embody the role of storytellers and friends sharing the magic of their city with you.

Prague has its own intimate version of love-padlocked bridge in the Mala Strana area

.

There is no mistaking the unseen presence in the very fiber of this city. You don’t feel alone, you feel like a part of the surroundings and you truly believe like you could belong here. Prague does not disappoint.
